This massage is an intuitive blend of Thai yoga massage, craniosacral work, and, if desired, gentle breathing exercises. I attune myself to you, your needs and any ailments you may have. I take the time to feel what's present in your body. The massage varies per person and per session; from a firmer, calm flow to gentle and quiet.
For me, massage is listening with my hands, with my presence, and with my heart. My intention is to facilitate, not to "fix" anything. I believe that a person, a body, knows deep within what it needs to relax and/or recover, and that this self-healing capacity is supported by attention and touch.
The massage I give helps calm your nervous system. With loving touch, I invite you to feel, and you can, layer by layer, return to a state of safety and relaxation. Because even though relaxation sometimes feels distant, it is possible to reconnect with it and cultivate it. What you focus on grows.
HOW CAN THIS MASSAGE HELP YOU?
You can treat yourself to a session if you need relaxation or if you have (recurring) complaints or pain. Sessions can also be supportive if you often feel overloaded or overstimulated, if you've experienced burnout, if you feel disconnected from your body, if you sleep poorly, if you suffer from tension headaches or stomach aches, if you find it difficult to feel your boundaries, if you feel lonely, if you're recovering from illness, overwork, a broken heart, or a setback. This subtle touch can also be helpful if you struggle to accept your body. Because I touch you through your clothing, this can be an accessible introduction to massage if it's new or exciting for you.
THE ART OF RECEIVING
It's a valuable experience to receive without having to do anything in return, and (practice) surrendering to it. This deep surrender, combined with the warmth of touch, can send a signal of safety and deep relaxation to your system. This allows you to release and/or unleash deeply stored tension.
CONTACT WITH YOURSELF
The careful touch invites you to experience relaxation and a more intimate connection with yourself. What needs attention within you is given space and time. When you are close to yourself and more aware of your body's signals, it becomes easier to choose what's right for you in your daily life. This can involve taking care of yourself, respecting your boundaries, but also anticipating what's happening in your life in a way that suits you.
WHAT DOES A SESSION LOOK LIKE?
When you come for a session, there's first time to settle in and share what you're experiencing. I work on the floor; you lie on the comfortable surface of a futon. During the massage, you remain fully clothed, unlike a typical oil massage. I hear from many clients that they are pleasantly surprised by what they feel and experience with this form of touch. For the first session, we take a little more time so we can get acquainted and have enough time to clarify your concerns. This extra fifteen minutes is free of charge.
